In the Spring of 2008, SHADOW Equestrian received a grant from Columbia Bank Foundation to construct a Nature/Sensory Trail around the perimeter of the property.  Trees were trimmed, cut and chipped for the trail base, a fence was built, and a path into the pit was bulldozed. 

With much assistance from our volunteers, birdhouses were painted, flowers, pumpkins and gourds were planted, and assorted “nature” items were added.

In May, children began riding the “Trail” with their leaders and sidewalkers with them.  They count the flags, observe birds, turtles and other creatures, experience the drop and incline of the “jungle pit” and genuinely enjoy a new and different activity.
